QuTS hero h6.0 Safe to Upgrade?

Just looking for feedback to build some confidence in updating to QuTS hero h6.0.

Has anyone upgraded? Success? Failure?

I’m always wary of upgrading on whole numbers.

Hello,

i think you should wait with the update.

There are many problems with QuTShero 6.0.

Important Notes
To ensure system security, starting from h6.0.0, QuTS hero no longer allows firmware downgrade.

Can you be specific on these issues? I’m considering the upgrade, and not seen a lot of posts about people having issues. So far there’s nothing jumping out at me that says “No don’t do it”.

The new forum isn`t good for finding posts.

But there some post with QuTShero 6.0 problems

There is a Update

Took the plunge and found out. :frowning:
SMB is nerfed in v6. I can’t access my files from my Mac, large shares just freeze. Going to have to switch to NFS until QNAP fixes it.

Saw you listed the fix in another thread. Good news that it’s fixable!

I’m still running h5.2. I’m not yet ready to take the leap and h6.0 doesn’t yet add that much to the party for me. Plus the release notes claim that iDrive is no longer supported yet there is a h6 version of the iDrive app. Given that I back my NAS up to iDrive several times a week, I need to be sure this continues to work (as iDrive’s NAS backup that works with HBS is way overpriced).

Understandable on the 5 to 6 path. When I first got my NAS I had so many problems with HBS that I abandon it for Borg Backup and never looked back all these years later. Two pi 4 devices, two HDD caddies, at two diff remote sites, and I was in business with 100% reliable backup with emailed reports right to my email. Excellent compression, chunking on only the changed blocks within changed files, deduplication, and 100% independent operations from the NAS OS itself is the holy grail of NAS backups! I’ve been running it for years.
