I am in the process of attempting to create a new VM within the Virtulization Station.
Regardless of what I try, I am unable to access the console, I just get a black screen. I can see in the thumbnail the VM console, but when clicking on console, I just get a black screen. Any ideas/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I have looked through the KB and posts and don’t seem to see any references to this same issue
The censored address … is that a local IP (no need to censor then … millions have the same) or a public IP (VERY bad idea to expose your NAS to WAN, malware galore)
If it’s a cloudlink address (not as insecure) … try a connection via local IP instead and test again
I just ran into this today too. I applied the Virtualization Station upgrade that was shown in the App Center - version 4.0.0.278 dated May 6th. And boom, lost the console view for my Ubuntu VM which had been working earlier today.
EDIT: Well doesn’t that just bugger all. I stopped Virtualization Station, waited a few minutes, started it again, and I have my console view back.
I’m experiencing the same issue — a black screen when trying to open the console.
I’ve already tried restarting the system (including waiting over 10 minutes), as well as a complete reinstallation of version 4.0.0.278, but unfortunately, nothing has resolved the problem.
I’ve tested multiple browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge) on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 clients — all with the same result.
The system is running QTS 5.1.9 on a TVS-672x.
I’m currently investigating whether port 5900 might be blocked somewhere in the LAN, but haven’t found any indication of that so far.
A support ticket has already been opened with the QNAP Service Department.
I’ve allowed all internal clients in my LAN (192.168.xxx.xxx) through QuFirewall, including unrestricted access to all ports — so this shouldn’t be the issue.
I’m now looking into whether the problem might be related to switch-level blocking or possibly a QoS configuration affecting traffic.
Just to note: I had no such issues with the previous version 4.0.0.270 — everything was working fine back then.
Any insights or similar experiences would be appreciated!
Have you tired to fully disable QuFirewall (as said before…and you should anyways by default, as it causes more issues than it actually solves … never expose a QNAP NAS to a hostile environment in the first place)
I completely disabled QuFirewall and tested again (including a full system reboot), but the issue persists — still getting a black screen in the VM console.
